Cheers!

Today's Cheers! is with a hot drink, perfect to celebrate the cold weather, fall, and Thanksgiving that is coming very soon: Hot Toddy (if you like hot drinks, also check out Irish Coffee and Mountain Melter's)

Ingredients
1 1/2 oz whiskey
5oz hot tea*
cinnamon stick
1 to 2 tsp honey
slice of lemon to garnish
* You can use the tea of your choice (black, apple, ginger ...). If you prefer, you can also use boiling water and give some flavor to it by increasing the amount of cinnamon and adding some cloves.

Preparation: Place all ingredients in an Irish Coffee mug and garnish it with lemon and cinnamon stick. The drink is strong, but you can make it lighter by adding more tea and using the amount of honey you desire.

A delightful weekend for all!

Halloween Special - Pumpkin Patch

My weekend was very productive (don't worry, during the next days I'll post here everything I did), and among the tours I did, I went to a pumpkin patch (it is not a patch "for real" because the pumpkins are already harvested!).
I was curious to know why these places drag dozens of families and celebrities seaching for the perfect pumpkin every year! I went to one of the most famous here in LA called Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch. Many celebrities go there with their children (so many that the entrance has a small space reserved for the papparazzi. When I was there, there was no celebrity, but they were already there).
Like most American attractions, the idea is simple and very well executed: the venue is an open air space decorated with giant crows, skeletons, scarecrows and cornstalks, and they offer pumpkins in different sizes so you get to choose and take them home. In addition to that, there are some attractions such as face painting, carving, live animals (like ponies, goats), a slide and, of course, a store.
As I have no children, my hubby and I stayed there for 10 minutes, but it's very fun for the kids!

Halloween is not completed without a pumpkin patch visit!

Spring has arrived! (and fall too!)

This post is to celebrate the begining of Spring season in Brazil. A delightful season that marks the end of cold, rain, bad mood (for some), weight gain (for many others...) and brings the sun, light, joy and flowers to prepare us for summer!
This last spring I thoroughly enjoyed the flowers. I stopped to look at them andI took lots of pictures (the photo above is from gardens here in the neighborhood)

If you, like me, love to bring the green into the house, take good care of them: before putting the flowers in the vase, cut the stems diagonally, remove the leaves and change water frequently. You can use traditional vases, vintage glass glasses, porcelain, plastic, pots of jam (cleaned, of course) and so on.

In the case of plants, do not be afraid to get your hands dirty, especially if you have a balcony or garden. Replace the soil (this second picture is of me in action!) and be careful not to water too much, because water in excess is the most common cause of death of indoors plants. But if you do not want to take any risk, call an expert!

Here is a little Feng-shui moment: never leave old and wilted greens inside your home. It doesn´t bring a good energy! If they are not full of life anymore, get rid of them and buy new ones.

Anyway, I hope that everybody in Brazil (or any other place in Spring season) enjoy you Spring a lot. Here in US it is my time to enjoy the autumn. I will keep you posted on everything that happens here during this also great season!
