The Sunset Restaurant, Malibu

Don't forget this name: The Sunset Restaurant, in Malibu.

This restaurant always caught my attention because of its location (end of a quiet street - during winter - and beach front) and the vibe. I searched the internet and talked with friends who live in Malibu, and I came to the conclusion that the restaurant was worth a visit. It was a perfect place to take my in-laws to (as you can see, their visit yielded so many nice tours!), so there we went!

It was amazing: beautiful day, chilly white wine and wonderful food. And we also got to see dolphins swimming in the ocean while eating!

It's a little bit expensive, but the portions are generous and, with a view like this, you don't think about the price that much! After lunch, I suggest crossing the street, take your shoes off and take a walk on the beach ... Simply the best!

Getty Villa and Getty Center Museums

JP Getty was one of the wealthiest Americans in the world. An avid arts and antiques collector, his extensive collection is the soul of two great museums that bear his family name: Getty Center and Getty Villa. The two are quite different, but both have your own richness of content and history.
Getty Villa is the first of the two museums. It's smaller and beautifully located on top of a mountain overlooking PCH and the sea. It's dedicated to the study of Greek, Roman and Etruscan arts (including the gardens are Roman-inspired).

Getty Center, also located atop a mountain overlooking the entire city of LA, has a super-modern architecture and is huge! It's dedicated to Western arts from the Middle Age until today (I saw incredible temporary exhibits such as Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt) and the gardens. I was able to rescue a pic of my last visit, but I'll look into my archives and post others because it's beautiful. You can spend a whole day there!

When in LA, take some time to visit these museums. It's free! (you only pay for parking). You'll spend hours admiring not only the amazing collections and exhibitions, but also the view, the arquitecture and the pleasant environment that were designed to accomodate so much culture!

Malibu Seafood

This Saturday I went to a restaurant suggested by my dear friend Edina, called Malibu Seafood.

I love fish & chips and she told me that they have a delicious one, so I went to check it out (and they do!) Besides being a nice and simple place, it's affordable and the food is very tasty.
The restaurant is kind of a drive-thru, but on foot: you enter, place your order, pay, wait for your number to be called, take your tray with the food and eat it at the tables they have outside.

We ordered two types of grilled fish with rice pilaf, salad and baked potato:

And an order of fish & chips. Mmm... So yummy!

Everything was very tasty, well seasoned and fresh. And as their sign says (pic below) "the reason they don't open for breakfast is they're out catching lunch".

On the menu you will find different types of grilled fish, soups, sandwiches, fish tacos etc..

And they also have a small fish store for you to buy and prepare your dishes at home.

And all this facing the beautiful PCH and Malibu Beach.

A great idea for a weekend!
